I'm getting a promotion at work! YAY! Instead of having to work dumb 1:30-9:30 hour, I get to work 10-6! It's awesome. I don't have to get up really early and I still make it home around the same time that most of my friends are getting home from work. I can actually go out to eat dinner with people instead of them having to bring me dinner at the studio. For some reason, my schedule makes me feel like a real adult...I guess because I'll pretty much be leading that life. Yay!

On the flip side, I feel like I might have too much responsibility now. I'm the Managing Director, so there's only one other person above me in all of Dancefx land. Danielle, the founder and Executive Director, lives in Charleston and is pretty much workingn the new studio that's up there. That leaves me pretty much running the one here. I'm kind of nervous, but keep trying to remind myself that I'll learn the things as I go along. There isn't really any set training because she's there. We'll see how long we can continue discussing things through e-mail and on the phone before I screw something up. lol

The UGA men's basketball team just won the SEC Championship! I think the question that everyone has been asking is, "When did we get a basketball team?" lol. Craziness..... that is all.

Will I ever continually update this? [12 Feb 2008|01:55am]
[ mood | content ]

It seems that I always plan on keeping up with this journal...but I never
do :( I guess I don't really think anything exciting happens or is worth mentioning. Again, I'll try to be a little better about updating...eh, probably not.

In recent news, I got a new car in December. A new bright red Ford Mustang. Even after 2 months, I'm still not use to having a brand new car. It's crazy. I'm also not use to driving a car that has a real engine like this. I think my little green car was just a toy car now. lol.

I've started competing in ballroom again. I have a new partner and she and I are starting the international style of ballroom (aka, the more respected style amongst the world). Training is getting crazy expensive, but it's totally worth it. I'm enjoying it more than any ballroom stuff that I've done before. Our new coach is awesome and isn't too mean (which is always a good thing)!

Now that I'm out of school, I've been doing a lot of reading. It's funny, because I find myself looking at my bookshelf and feel the need to reread some of the summer reading books from high school. I haven't done it yet, but I keep feeling the urge to. I've just recently become a fan of Augusten Burroughs, the author of Running With Scissors. It's really surprising how well some authors can go back into their lives and write about themselves in such an interesting way.

Okay, so there was a mini-update. That's more than what I can say about my posts over the past year.

College Football! [31 Aug 2007|08:34pm]
It's that time of the year again when 99,000 of us cram into Sanfod Stadium to cheer on the DAWGS! I'm so freaking excited! Driving around town today and seeing all the alumni here and everyone yelling chants at each other has gotten me even more fired up....and the Oklahoma St. fans don't seem to be too mean. lol. I always forget how nice everyone is from schools outside of the SEC. I can't wait for kick-off tomorrow!!!! The one thing that I do miss is getting to pay student ticket prices for tickets. I have a feeling I'm going to be shelling out a lot of money for tickets this season, but oh well, it's worth it. Let's go dawgs!!!

Finally an update....sort of. [09 Aug 2007|01:19am]
So, my plan has been to update my journal and read everyone else's journals more often now that I have a real job and can do this stuff while I'm at work....but I've failed at doing that....I suck! lol. Anyway, this is an outline for an update that I'll do tomorrow (possibly while I'm at work).

-JT concert=surprisingly awesome.
-Me=intimidating....not really sure how that one works.
-Having a real, full-time job=awesome (so far).
More to come in an update later....just wanted to say hi to everyone that still gets on this!

I'm annoyed because there aren't enough hours in the day for me to read Harry Potter....I've pretty much only been able to read a chapter a day since it came out. UGH!!! IT's annoying. lol

YAY! We went and watched the midnight showing of Harry Potter....although I really like the series...I'll be glad when it's all over so that I can have my life back! lol. AND...I still stick by my thought that Neville Longbottom is actually "the chosen one" that will actually take out Voldemort.

Wow, so the last time that I updated this journal was during spring break when I was out in California...that was a long time ago. Since then, I've been hired on for my first full-time "real world" job as the project manager for DanceFX, a non-profit dance organization here in Athens. It's awesome because I'm getting paid a pretty sweet salary to hang out in Athens with my friends, teach dance, take dance classes, organize performances, and just be around awesome people! I'm excited and have had a ton of fun during my training the past two weeks. Today I got to meet with two "big wig" dance vendors and help decide what stuff we are going to be selling during the winter season. It's just a lot of fun and pretty easy and laid-back.

As far as California, I realized I wouldn't be able to afford living there without having any money saved up first. So, I'm going to work for this year and save some money...and then hopefully be able to move out there in 1 year. 2 of my friends are planning on doing the same thing, so we can kind of motivate each other to save money and make sure that we do it. I really would never have been interested in moving there...except for the visit that I made during spring break. California was AMAZING! The financial planning firm that I interviewed with told me that they may still have some oppenings when I decide to move, since they are still growing...so I hope that that works out. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Maybe I'll update again sometime before this month is over???

I'm flying on a jet plane back to GA! (sung to the style of Midnight Train To GA)
So I'm leaving for the airport in about an hour and a half :( I'm actually kind of excited to go back because I've felt like a lazy bum this whole week. I haven't really done anything except for school work and lounge around. I guess I complain when I have so much stuff to do and no free time, but it's better that way than to go around with nothing to do. Anywho...I'll do some journaling of the past week while I'm on the plane, then copy and paste it into here so that I will have one big entry of my holiday (if I was European). See you later CA...and stay classy San Diego!

Sunday: So, if flying from the east coast to the west coast didn't throw off my internal timer, daylight saving time sure did. lol. I've been exhausted all day and it was only 1 hour that I lost....I'm kind of confused why my tiredness has been so drastic today. Anyway, I got up this morning and went by and saw the office space. It's kind of a typical office layout. There are bigger office going around the perimeter of the floor, and then smaller desks and things in the middle, with a walkway going in between the offices and the desks. The good thing is that if I get the job here, I only have to go to the office 3 days a week. After that, I traveled down to Huntington Beach. It's in Orange County, and was clearly the beach where all of the beautiful people go. I kind of stuck out like a sore thumb...lol. Everyone was the typical white, blonde hair, blue eyes, really athletic guys, really athletic women with perfect boobs, the whole 9 yards. And then there was me (and like 5 other people that didn't look like they fit in). Despite their looks, everyone was really nice and would say hi and smile and everything. Oh, I just realized what time it was. I have to go grab dinner....I'll update more later tonight or early tomorrow!

[10 Mar 2007|09:16pm]
So, as usual, I haven't written in this thing in a while. I find that I end up saying that everytime that I go to write an update. Anywho, I have to write a journal every week for my writing for professionals class, and the topic for this coming week is what we did over spring break. So I'm going to try to update this thing everyday with what I am doing so that it will be easier to write when I get back to Athens. For those of you that didn't know, I have a job interview in California. So, my flight left GA last night at 9:30 and I landed in LA at 11:30 California time. I took a taxi to my hotel in LA and went out and partied. Well, pretended to party and be a tourist. So, I kind of sat at the bar in this pub and talked with the bartender and ate a little foot. I talked with some people that sat at the bar and we discussed how big of a change California is from Georgia. Then, I took a taxi home and kind of went to bed around 2. I probably would have stayed out longer, but the time zone change was starting to affect me.

Saturday: I took a taxi from LA to Long Beach, which was only about 15 or 20 minutes away. I hung out at the hotel here for a little while and then took a bus out of the downtown area. I got off and walked along the beach and played with people's dogs that were there. It was a good time. A strange note about the beach here though...There are these man-made islands out in the pacific ocean. They are owned by oil companies and have stuff stored on them. No one really knew what was stored there, so I think I'm going to do a little research tonight and try to find out. I went and saw the movie Zodiac...and it was okay. Not really great...not really bad. So, now I'm getting ready to go and grab some dinner, and then I'm heading out to see what there is to do around Long Beach. I'm going in the morning to visit the office where I could possibly be working at that's in Long Beach, and then I'm heading up to San Jose where my actual interview is. I'll hopefully keep things posted in here.

[10 Jan 2007|12:20am]
Here's my obligatory, first few days of school post. Classes are going well. I don't think that this will be my hardest semester that I've had as far as material that I have to learn, but it will be my hardest as far as amount of work that I will have to do. After getting all of my syllabi over the past 2 days, and taking into account that I'm taking 19 hours, it seems that starting on Feb 1st, I have one test each week and some weeks a project due on the same day. Some weeks I have 2 tests...eck! I hate those weeks. Most of my classes it seems will just involve a lot of reading and reviewing my notes often. There doesn't seem to be a lot of things that I really have to work on analyzing...hopefully. Anywhoo, here are the classes that I am taking:

HACE 4100 - Family Economic Behavior and Policy
HACE 5150 - Economic Law
HACE 5900 - Some internship class that is required for our major...I needed one more hour and an upper level class
ECON 2200 - Economic History of the U.S. (Gag me!)
HACE 5100 - Consumer Protection
HACE 3200 - Family Financial Planning
HACE 4210 - Family Retirement Planning and Employee Benefits (again, gag me!)

So, everyone have a great semester!

school starts tomorrow [07 Jan 2007|10:47pm]
School starts tomorrow and I can't believe that it's already here. I was putting together my notebooks and getting everything ready (kinda like in elementary school when you are all excited...except I'm not excited anymore. lol). Somehow I've managed to miss enough classes to where I have to take 19 hours this semester so that I can be done at the end of the semester! Gah, that sucks something serious. The good thing is that a couple of my classes should be pretty easy. And, I just found out that one of my roomates is in one of my classes...and we didn't even know it until we just started talking about our classes tonight. So that gives me someone to study with and to make me go to class. I'll update tomorrow with how classes went. Well, I'll try to update...I am kind of bad about remembering to put things in here.

Kentucky? We can't even beat Kentucky this season???? I was all excited about staying an extra year because I could get an extra season of football tickets at student prices and we can't even beat Kentucky??? Hell has literally frozen over! Kentucky? I clearly had to go out tonight and have a few drinks. Kentucky??? The freaking wildcats of kentucky? I don't know what to do with myself. This might literally be the most depressing thing I have ever been a part of in my entire life. We lost to Kentucky. Wow. Atleat I'm taking a lesson tomorrow morning with Mia Micheals. Geez, we lost to Kentucky. This is an all-time low for UGA. We've all been so spoiled with winning under Mark Richt....and in case you missed the memo...or didn't get it from the rest of this post, we lost to Kentucky. I think I'm going to be sick to my stomach.

Busy! [04 Nov 2006|01:53am]
Again, it's been forever since I last wrote anything in here...almost a monthy to be exact. And again, I've stretched myself out way to thin over too many projects and am unable to keep up with everything. November seems to be the month where everything that I'm a part of has something that I have to do. I have so many dance obligations this month that I don't even know how I'm going to be able to keep up. I have 3 pieces that I have to choreography by Wednesday. Not too sure how that is going to happen. I had a test this morning, a test on Monday, a project due Wednesday, and a project due Friday. Then I have a week off from school work, not completely sure about that, and then I have another test and another project due the following week. I though I couldn't wait for Fall Break to come...now I definately can't wait for Thanksgiving Break to get here. One more semester and I'm done with school!!!!!!! I'm ready to have a real job and be a 'young professional.' Only a few more months!
